Increase ATM Traffic in 3 Easy Steps
How often do you answer the question, “Do you have an ATM?”
Is it tucked in the back somewhere, obscured by merchandise, covered in dust or, worse, grime? If so, you might be missing customers and losing revenue. Here are a few tips to help your ATM stand out and do more for your business.
Step 1 — Start with great signage.
Door stickers, hanging-arrow signs, and street signs all work to call attention to your ATM. Easy-to-read, big, bright signage placed in a high-visibility location is best, especially if the merchant has decided to place the ATM in an unobtrusive place.
“We have a variety of smart-looking door stickers, signage to suspend from the ceiling, and posters to attach to walls,” DC Payments’ U.K. Sales Manager Clive Marshall says. “And in many cases, the company has provided customised artwork suited to a particular store’s décor.”
DC Payments also offers artwork for sign boxes and other street signage that customers can provide to their sign manufacturers.
Step 2 — Clean the machine!
The easiest and most cost-effective way to increase traffic is to clean your ATM. Many customers avoid using ATMs that are dirty, poorly branded, or don’t have a phone number sticker clearly visible, in case there is an issue.
“The cleaner and better-labelled the ATM is, the more confident customers will feel about using it,” Marshall says. “If patrons find a better-presented ATM elsewhere, they’ll most likely think of that one the next time they need cash.”
To clean your ATM, wipe it down with basic glass cleaner and a soft cloth. Be careful not to soak sensitive components such as the keypad, and avoid industrial cleaners which can easily soften or even strip away paint.
Step 3 — Keep decals clean and bright.
Decals should be scuff-free, and phone number stickers should be highly visible and legible. Clear markings inspire customer confidence, Marshall says. “If at any time the decals on your machine become damaged or worn, simply give us a call and we’ll be happy to swing by and replace them at no charge.”
More than ever, with so many options available to consumers, appearance matters, so make sure your ATM is easy to find and is just as clean and inviting as the rest of your establishment.
